WOMEN IN SPORT CONFERENCE ZANZIBAR 2024

Zanzibar. From 12^th to 15^th June 2024, Women in Sport Conference 2024 in Zanzibar on the theme of women’s participation in sports was held co-sponsored by JICA.

Dr. Tomoya Shiraishi, JICA expert in National Sports Council of Tanzania, Dr. Cyprian Maro, Department of Physical Education and Sports Science, University of Dar es Salaam (UDSM), and female students from the university participated in this conference, where Dr. Maro presented the progress of Nationwide Survey for National Sport Participation Rate that JICA and UDSM have been conducting together from last year.

 

Other participants gave presentations and panel discussions regarding Women’s Leadership in Sports, Safeguarding Women in Sports and Women’s Clubs and Leagues etc., and there was a lively exchange of opinions among the participants at each session or breaking time.

 Mr. Shiraishi comments, “All of the female students who participated with the support of JICA are interested in the promotion of women's sports. I hope that the knowledge and experience gained from this conference will help them to promote women's sports in Tanzania in the future.”
