TotalEnergies steps up consumer education on lubricants, cooking gas

TotalEnergies is stepping up efforts to educate consumers on the correct use of vehicle lubricants, cooking gas and digital payment services, seeking to improve product knowledge and help customers make informed choices.

The company is conducting the campaign through its exhibition booth at the Industrial and Trade Fair at the Jakaya Kikwete Convention Centre (JKCC) in Dodoma, ahead of the launch of the 2025 editions of the Industrial Development Policy and the Small and Medium Enterprises Policy.

Visitors are being guided on how to select lubricants according to engine specifications, with the company showcasing its Quartz range for petrol-powered vehicles, Rubia for diesel engines and Hi-Perf for motorcycles.

Speaking at the exhibition, TotalEnergies Marketing Manager Caroline Kakwezi said using the appropriate lubricant was essential to ensuring engines received the protection required for efficient performance.

She said the company was also educating consumers about its cooking gas products, particularly six-kilogramme and 13-kilogramme cylinders, which are available through its service stations and authorised distributors.

Beyond its energy products, TotalEnergies is using the exhibition to introduce customers to its digital payment options, which include bank cards, mobile phone numbers, one-time passwords (OTPs) and the company's Mobility application.

According to Ms Kakwezi, the systems are designed to simplify transactions and give customers greater flexibility when paying for the company's services.

She said the exhibition also provided an opportunity to engage directly with consumers, understand their expectations and collect feedback that could inform improvements in service delivery.

"Meeting customers directly allows us to understand their needs and hear their views on the products and services we provide," she said.

Ms Kakwezi added that private sector participation in such exhibitions was important in connecting businesses with consumers and strengthening engagement between service providers and the public.

The exhibition offers consumers an opportunity to seek clarification on products they use regularly, particularly lubricants and cooking gas, while learning about available payment options.

For motorists, choosing lubricants suited to their engines is an important consideration in vehicle maintenance, while access to reliable information on cooking gas and payment services can help consumers make better purchasing and service decisions.

The company's participation reflects the role exhibitions can play in bringing businesses closer to consumers, allowing them not only to showcase their products but also to respond to questions and improve public understanding of their services.
