Telecommunications company Yas has joined participants in the inaugural Tanzania-China Nyerere Run 2026, an event held to honour the legacy of Tanzania’s founding father, Mwalimu Julius Kambarage Nyerere.
The run, held on October 14, 2026, started and ended at the EACLC Centre in Ubungo, Dar es Salaam, bringing together participants to celebrate Nyerere’s contribution to the nation while promoting physical fitness and healthy living.
The event also sought to celebrate the longstanding friendship between Tanzania and China, highlighting the role of sporting activities in strengthening social ties and encouraging healthier lifestyles.
Yas’s participation reflects its continued involvement in running events aimed at promoting community engagement and supporting charitable causes across the country.
The telecommunications company has supported several running events, including the Yas Zanzibar International Marathon, which attracted more than 10,000 runners from Tanzania and abroad this year.
Marathons have increasingly served as platforms for raising awareness of social issues, mobilising support for people in need and encouraging public participation in physical exercise.
Through its involvement in such events, Yas continues to support initiatives that combine sport, community welfare and social responsibility.
