The Tanzania Investment and Special Economic Zones Authority (TISEZA) is seeking to attract investors to Katavi Region by promoting local investment opportunities, including the proposed Kalema Port project, as part of efforts to unlock the region's economic potential.

The authority is using the Mwanakatavi Week celebrations, running from October 25 to 31, 2026, to showcase available investment opportunities, provide information to prospective investors and strengthen cooperation between the government and the private sector.

TISEZA's participation comes amid efforts to broaden the geographical distribution of investments by encouraging businesses to explore opportunities beyond the country's established commercial centres.

During the celebrations, the authority has been engaging residents and potential investors, providing guidance on investment procedures and explaining the support available to those seeking to establish or expand businesses in the region.

One of the key areas visited by TISEZA officials is the proposed Kalema Port project, where they assessed the available investment opportunities and identified areas that could be promoted to prospective investors.

The project is among the opportunities being highlighted as the authority seeks to draw attention to Katavi's potential and encourage private sector participation in regional development.

TISEZA has also participated in an investment forum that brought together stakeholders to discuss opportunities, challenges and strategies for improving the investment environment in Katavi.

The discussions focused on strengthening cooperation between the government, private sector and development partners to identify practical ways of attracting investment and supporting economic growth.

The celebrations have brought together various leaders, including Katavi Regional Commissioner Mwanamvua Mrindoko and Tanzania's Ambassador to the Democratic Republic of Congo, Said Juma Mshana.

TISEZA has invited residents and prospective investors to visit its pavilion before the celebrations end on October 31 to obtain information, investment guidance and facilitation services.

The initiative highlights the importance of regional investment promotion in connecting available economic opportunities with investors, while creating scope for business expansion, employment and increased economic activity in Katavi.
