Singida Black Stars to investigate Sowah over red-card incident

Singida Black Stars have vowed to take disciplinary action against striker Jonathan Sowah if an internal investigation finds that he deliberately punched a Dodoma Jiji player during an NBC Premier League match.

Sowah was sent off after punching an opponent during the encounter played at Jamhuri Stadium in Dodoma on October 9, 2026. The match ended in a 1-1 draw, with both sides sharing the points.

Singida Black Stars Information and Communications Officer Hussein Massanza said the club would not tolerate unsporting behaviour, stressing that players must respect their opponents and uphold the principles of fair play.

“Singida Black Stars will not tolerate actions that tarnish the image of football. The matter will be referred to management for investigation,” Massanza said.

He added that appropriate disciplinary measures would be taken if investigations established that Sowah had deliberately committed the offence.

The club’s position underscores the importance of accountability and discipline in Tanzanian football, with players expected to compete within the rules and ensure the safety of their opponents.

Beyond the immediate result, the incident highlights the need for players and clubs to promote sportsmanship and professionalism as the NBC Premier League continues to attract attention from football fans across the country.
