The President of the United Republic of Tanzania, Dr. Samia Suluhu Hassan, alongside the President of Angola, João Manuel Gonçalves Lourenço, has officially launched the infrastructure of Mtumba Government City in Dodoma, marking a significant milestone in strengthening government operations and administration.
The launch took place today, October 30, 2026, covering 26 ministerial office buildings, 11 buildings for government institutions, and other supporting infrastructure, including 59.1 kilometres of tarmac roads.
The development forms part of the government's commitment to relocating its administrative operations to Dodoma, with the aim of improving service delivery, strengthening coordination among government institutions and enhancing efficiency in public administration.
The completion of the infrastructure is also expected to stimulate economic and social development in Dodoma through increased commercial activities, investment opportunities and employment creation.
The official launch marks an important chapter in Tanzania's administrative history, positioning Mtumba Government City as a central hub for government operations and further strengthening Dodoma's status as the country's capital.
