President and Chairman of the Revolutionary Council, Dr Hussein Ali Mwinyi, has arrived in Doha, Qatar, for a working visit focused on strengthening economic ties and unlocking new investment opportunities that could benefit the people of Zanzibar.
President Mwinyi arrived at Hamad International Airport on October 7, 2026, as part of the Revolutionary Government of Zanzibar’s efforts to expand economic cooperation with Qatar and attract investment into areas capable of supporting jobs, business growth and improved livelihoods.
He was received at the airport by Tanzania’s Ambassador to Qatar, Habibu Awesi Mohamed.
The visit comes as Zanzibar continues to pursue economic diplomacy aimed at bringing more strategic investors into the Isles while creating opportunities for local businesses and communities to participate in and benefit from economic growth.
Stronger cooperation with Qatar could open doors for investment in key sectors of Zanzibar’s economy, potentially expanding employment opportunities, supporting entrepreneurship and improving access to services and infrastructure.
For citizens, the focus of the engagement is expected to be on turning international partnerships into practical benefits, including increased economic opportunities, improved livelihoods and greater participation of Zanzibaris in the country’s development.
The visit is therefore part of broader government efforts to position Zanzibar as an attractive investment destination while ensuring that strategic partnerships contribute to inclusive and sustainable development for its people.
