Prime Minister Mwigulu Nchemba has left Tanzania for the United Kingdom, where he is expected to open a major investment forum as the government seeks to attract more foreign capital, technology and expertise to support the country's long-term economic ambitions.

Dr Nchemba departed on Tuesday, October 6, 2026, for a five-day working visit that will also include meetings with investors, business leaders and companies operating in key sectors of the Tanzanian economy.

The Prime Minister will lead a Tanzanian delegation in engagements with potential investors and business partners in mining, banking, technology, transport and infrastructure.

The meetings are expected to focus on investment opportunities available in Tanzania, with the government seeking to turn international interest into capital commitments, new businesses and partnerships with local firms.

The Tanzania Investment Forum in the UK will also provide a platform for the government to present investment priorities under Development Vision 2050 and explain reforms being undertaken to improve the country's business environment.

The government wants the forum to help mobilise capital and technology while expanding opportunities for Tanzanians through job creation, skills development and increased economic activity.

The push comes as Tanzania seeks greater private-sector participation in financing infrastructure and other development projects as it implements its long-term development agenda.

The UK visit is also part of the government's broader economic diplomacy strategy, which seeks to strengthen commercial relations with international partners while promoting Tanzania as an investment destination.

The administration of President Samia Suluhu Hassan has increasingly placed investment and private-sector participation at the centre of efforts to expand the economy, improve infrastructure and create employment opportunities.

For Tanzania, the UK engagement provides an opportunity to go beyond promoting investment opportunities and address issues that matter to investors, including the predictability of the business environment, access to infrastructure, technology transfer and opportunities for local participation.

Dr Nchemba is expected to use his meetings with British and international business leaders to highlight projects and sectors where Tanzania is seeking investment, while encouraging partnerships that can generate wider economic benefits.

The visit comes as Tanzania continues to position Vision 2050 as a framework for transforming the economy through increased productivity, investment, technological advancement and improved human capital.

The government hopes the UK forum will translate these priorities into concrete investment partnerships, particularly in sectors capable of supporting industrialisation, infrastructure development and employment creation.
