The buying price of gold in Tanzania stood at TZS314,755.45 per gram on Friday, October 2, according to the latest indicative mineral prices published by the Mining Commission.
The commission’s figures show that the world market price of gold was TZS357,676.64 per gram, while the mineral market price was set at TZS321,908.98 per gram.
In international markets, gold was quoted at $4,190.90 per troy ounce, underscoring the continued high value of the precious metal that remains one of Tanzania’s key mineral exports.
The gap between the world market price and the indicative buying-centre price reflects the different stages and costs involved in the domestic mineral trading chain.
For miners and mineral traders, the buying-centre figure provides an indication of the price at which gold can be purchased at authorised centres, while the mineral market price provides another reference point in the domestic market.
The latest figures come as Tanzania continues to promote formalisation of mineral trading and increase the contribution of the mining sector to the economy.
The Mining Commission also placed the international price of silver at $61.19 per troy ounce on October 2.
In Tanzanian shilling terms, the world market price was TZS5,222.32 per gram, compared with a mineral market price of TZS4,700.09 per gram.
The indicative buying-centre price for silver stood at TZS4,595.64 per gram. For copper, the commission listed the world market price at $6.56 per pound.
The equivalent world market price in Tanzania was TZS38.41 per gram, while the mineral market price was TZS34.57 per gram.
The indicative buying-centre price was TZS33.80 per gram.
The daily indicative prices provide reference points for mineral traders and other players in Tanzania’s formal mineral trading system and are subject to movements in international commodity markets and other market conditions.
The figures were published by the Mining Commission on October 2, 2026.
