Singida Black Stars have set their sights on reaching the group stage of the Caf Confederation Cup after being drawn against Kenya’s Tusker in the second qualifying round.
The Tanzanian side will face Tusker in the tie scheduled for October 23-25, with the club confident that its current squad has what it takes to overcome the Kenyan outfit and keep its continental campaign alive.
Singida BS spokesman Hussein Massanza said the club’s ambition goes beyond the group stage, with the ultimate target being a place in the final.
“We set ourselves the target of reaching the group stage, but as we progress, our vision is to reach the final because I believe in this squad and the players we have. They can achieve something,” Massanza said.
He said the team was in good shape and had assembled a squad capable of competing at continental level, adding that the players were ready to face the challenge posed by Tusker.
Massanza said the club was determined to maintain its focus throughout the campaign and would not allow setbacks to derail its ambitions.
He also urged the team and its supporters to remain confident as Singida BS pursues its continental objectives.
“Whether they like it or not, we will move on to the next stage of the competition,” he said.
The clash with Tusker will provide Singida BS with a stern test as it seeks to move closer to the group stage and build on its growing ambitions in African club football.
For the Tanzanian side, progressing past the Kenyan club would not only secure another step in the competition but also keep alive its ambition of making a deep run in this season’s Caf Confederation Cup.
