Organisers of the ninth Geita Mining Technology Exhibition have urged exhibitors to prioritise safety, cleanliness and quality product presentation as preparations for the event enter the final stages.
The Tanzania Trade Development Authority (TanTrade), in collaboration with the Geita Regional Commissioner’s Office, conducted training for exhibitors on September 24 on safety requirements and effective management of exhibition booths.
The training, held at the Samia Suluhu Hassan Exhibition Grounds, focused on measures participants should observe to ensure their operations run smoothly throughout the exhibition.
TanTrade Senior Trade Officer Cecilia Mwandepa told exhibitors that the way they present their products and interact with visitors would be important in determining the quality of their participation.
She highlighted cleanliness, proper arrangement of products, creativity, quality presentation and customer service among the standards exhibitors should observe.
“These are among the areas that participants need to pay attention to when preparing their booths,” Ms Mwandepa said.
She said compliance with the requirements would also be important during the judging exercise for the Best Booth competition.
The training also addressed safety concerns, with officials urging exhibitors to comply with established procedures to reduce risks to visitors, workers and property.
Geita Regional Commissioner’s Office Head of Industry and Trade Charles Chacha said exhibitors should follow all safety regulations throughout the exhibition.
He said the regional administration would continue working with participants to address issues that could affect the smooth running of the event.
Fire safety was also part of the training, with the Geita Regional Fire and Rescue Force advising exhibitors on how to prevent and respond to fires at the exhibition grounds.
Participants were warned against leaving open flames unattended and were advised to safely store equipment and materials that could cause fires.
They were also urged to exercise caution when handling or storing flammable materials and other substances that could cause explosions.
The precautions are intended to protect lives and property while ensuring the mining technology exhibition provides a safe environment for businesses, exhibitors and visitors.
