Tanzanian companies, institutions and qualified service providers have been urged to tap into business opportunities arising from the 2027 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON), after the Confederation of African Football (CAF) opened a range of tenders linked to the tournament.
Tanzania will co-host AFCON 2027 with Kenya and Uganda, with the tournament expected to generate demand for a wide range of goods and services before and during the competition.
Speaking in Dar es Salaam, Local Organising Committee (LOC) Secretary Neema Msitha said CAF had advertised tenders covering various areas of tournament preparation and operations.
She urged Tanzanian businesses and professionals with the required capacity to closely monitor CAF's official tender platform and submit bids that meet the stipulated requirements and deadlines.
“LOC is encouraging Tanzanians with the capacity, qualifications and interest to pursue these opportunities to follow the official tender announcements through the CAF website, study the requirements of each tender and submit their applications in accordance with the procedures and deadlines set by CAF,” Msitha said.
The opportunities span sectors including sports, professional services, technology, marketing, transport, accommodation and other areas necessary for the successful organisation of the continental tournament.
Msitha said the tenders could provide local companies with an opportunity to secure contracts and gain experience by participating in the delivery of one of Africa's biggest sporting events.
She called on eligible businesses to prepare their documentation and assess their capacity against the requirements of individual tenders rather than waiting until the last minute to submit applications.
“This is an opportunity for Tanzanian companies, institutions and service providers to participate in activities associated with AFCON 2027,” she said.
The call comes as preparations gather pace for the tournament, with Tanzania seeking to maximise the economic and business benefits associated with its role as a co-host.
For local enterprises, participation in CAF tenders could open opportunities beyond the tournament itself by creating new business networks, improving service standards and exposing companies to international procurement processes.
Msitha said Tanzania was ready to host its share of the tournament and encouraged citizens and the private sector to remain alert to opportunities emerging from the preparations.
CAF tender announcements can be accessed through its official tender portal, where applicants can review specific eligibility criteria, submission procedures and deadlines for each opportunity.
She urged Tanzanians with the required qualifications and capacity to act promptly and make the most of the opportunities available ahead of AFCON 2027.
