The Tanzania Volleyball National League (TVNL) serves off today in Dar es Salaam, with six matches lined up at Mwembe Yanga grounds as teams begin their battle for supremacy in the 2026 season.
The opening fixtures promise an exciting start to the competition, with some of the country’s top volleyball clubs taking to the court in both men’s and women’s categories.
In the men’s division, Jeshi Stars will face Tanzania Prisons in the opening match, while Bandari will go up against Nyuki. Genesis will later meet JKT before Best Six and Moro Warriors conclude the day’s action.
In the women’s category, JKT will launch their campaign against Mafinga Paris, followed by Genesis’ clash with KIUT in the final match of the opening day.
The league has attracted teams from Mainland Tanzania and Zanzibar, with clubs competing for the prestigious national titles in the men’s and women’s competitions.
Tanzania Volleyball Federation (TVF) Director of Administration Riziki Godwini said the federation is confident of a competitive season, with participating teams having completed preparations and ready to deliver quality performances.
He urged volleyball supporters and sports fans to attend the matches in large numbers, saying their support will play an important role in promoting the growth of the sport.
“We expect a high level of competition from all participating teams because they have prepared well for the season,” Godwini said.
The TVNL is expected to provide a platform for emerging and established players to showcase their talent while strengthening the development and popularity of volleyball in Tanzania.
