The Tanzania Electric Supply Company Limited (TANESCO) is using the ongoing National Nane Nane Agricultural Exhibition in Dodoma to showcase electricity-powered technologies aimed at improving productivity and reducing costs in agriculture, livestock keeping and fisheries.
One of the major attractions at the utility's pavilion is an electric poultry incubator capable of hatching more than 1,000 chicks while consuming only about four units of electricity per day.
The technology has drawn the attention of hundreds of visitors touring TANESCO's stand at the Nzuguni exhibition grounds, with many seeking to understand how modern energy solutions can support commercial farming and livestock production.
Through demonstrations and public awareness sessions, TANESCO is highlighting the role of electricity in transforming agricultural activities by enabling farmers and livestock keepers to adopt efficient technologies that increase output while lowering operational costs.
The utility says the adoption of electricity-based technologies can help farmers improve productivity, enhance value addition and expand market opportunities, ultimately boosting household incomes and rural economic growth.
The exhibition is also providing a platform for TANESCO to educate the public on the wider benefits of reliable electricity in supporting agribusiness development and accelerating the country's industrialisation agenda.
