Forward Selemani Mwalimu has emerged as a surprise name linked with a move to Yanga ahead of the 2026/27 season, with reports suggesting the player could join the Jangwani-based giants.

Mwalimu has reportedly been training with a lower-tier team as he works on his fitness ahead of the new campaign, fuelling speculation that he could be preparing for a return to top-flight football.

The latest development was highlighted in a social media post that described Mwalimu as a new “Mwananchi”, Yanga’s popular nickname, while hinting that the player could begin the season with a major club.

“Selemani Mwalimu ni Mwananchi,” the post stated, adding to growing speculation among Yanga supporters over the forward’s next move.

However, the club had not officially confirmed the reported transfer at the time of publication, meaning details of any potential deal remain unclear.

Should the move materialise, Mwalimu would provide Yanga with another attacking option as the club prepares for a demanding season involving domestic competitions and continental football.

Yanga are expected to continue strengthening their squad during the transfer window as they seek to maintain their dominance in domestic football while also competing for success on the continental stage.
