The National Council for Technical and Vocational Education and Training (NACTVET) is using the 2026 Nanenane International Agricultural Exhibition to showcase education and training opportunities aimed at equipping young Tanzanians with practical skills to support economic growth and national development.
The exhibition, which opened on August 1 at the Dr. John Samuel Malecela Grounds in Nzuguni, Dodoma, was officially inaugurated by Prime Minister Dr. Mwigulu Nchemba and has attracted thousands of visitors from across the country.
Under the theme, “Know Your Market; Increase Productivity to Achieve Vision 2050,” this year's exhibition emphasizes the role of knowledge, innovation and skills development in enhancing productivity and advancing Tanzania’s long-term development agenda.
NACTVET officials said the council continues to play a central role in strengthening technical and vocational education through the registration of colleges, quality assurance and regulation of institutions offering technical and vocational training programmes.
The council oversees institutions providing training in key productive sectors, including agriculture and livestock, as well as vocational secondary schools that offer specialised programmes designed to meet labour market demands.
According to NACTVET, technical and vocational education remains critical in preparing young people with hands-on skills that enable them to create employment opportunities, improve productivity and contribute to the transformation of strategic sectors of the economy.
Stakeholders and members of the public visiting the NACTVET pavilion are receiving information on available training programmes, admission requirements and career pathways in technical and vocational education.
The council said strengthening skills development is essential to building a competitive workforce capable of supporting Tanzania’s ambitions under Vision 2050, particularly in agriculture, livestock and other productive sectors that drive economic growth and job creation.
