Mineral indicative prices for August 19, 2026

Gold and silver prices have remained high in Tanzania, with the Mining Commission publishing new indicative prices for August 19, 2026, reflecting strong international market values for the precious metals.

According to the latest figures issued by the Mining Commission, the world market price of gold stands at US$4,418.50 per troy ounce, equivalent to TZS 377,290.34 per gram.

At the domestic market level, gold has an indicative mineral market price of TZS 339,561.30 per gram, while the buying centre price has been set at TZS 332,015.50 per gram.

The figures provide an important reference for miners, mineral traders and buying centres when conducting transactions in the local market.

Silver is also trading at elevated levels, with the Mining Commission putting its world market price at US$65.10 per troy ounce, equivalent to TZS 5,558.81 per gram.

The indicative mineral market price for silver stands at TZS 5,002.93 per gram, while the buying centre price is TZS 4,891.75 per gram.

For copper, the commission has placed the world market price at US$6.57 per pound, translating to TZS 38.45 per gram.

The indicative mineral market price is TZS 34.61 per gram, while buying centres are expected to use TZS 33.84 per gram as the buying reference.

The publication of indicative prices is intended to provide market participants with a common reference point and improve transparency in mineral trading.

For small-scale miners in particular, access to official price information can help them make better decisions when selling minerals and assess whether offers from buyers are in line with prevailing market conditions.

The latest prices come as Tanzania continues to strengthen regulation of the mining sector, including efforts to improve transparency in mineral trading, increase government revenue and ensure that miners receive fair value for their production.

The Mining Commission publishes indicative mineral prices through its official channels, with the latest schedule dated August 19, 2026.
