Officials representing the Ministry of Finance at the 33rd Nane Nane Agricultural Exhibition have been urged to maintain high standards of professionalism, integrity and accountability while serving members of the public, as the government seeks to strengthen citizen engagement and improve access to public services.
The call was made by the ministry’s Assistant Director for Administration and Human Resource Management, Mr Simbani Liganga, during a visit to the Ministry of Finance pavilion at the Dr John Samuel Malecela Nane Nane Exhibition Grounds in Nzuguni, Dodoma.
Mr Liganga said the annual exhibition provides an important opportunity for the ministry to interact directly with citizens and raise awareness about its core functions, including fiscal policy, government budget planning and execution, public asset management and other services delivered through institutions under its supervision.
He noted that exhibitions such as Nane Nane play a crucial role in bringing government services closer to the public and enhancing understanding of how public resources are managed to support national development.
"The Ministry of Finance continues to participate in national exhibitions to ensure citizens have direct access to information and services. We encourage members of the public to visit our pavilion and learn more about the ministry’s work and the services available to them," Mr Liganga said.
He stressed that the manner in which officials engage with visitors has a direct impact on public trust in government institutions, urging staff to provide timely, accurate and professional responses to citizens' inquiries.
According to him, every visitor should leave the pavilion with a better understanding of the ministry’s contribution to economic development and public finance management.
"Citizens should be able to access information, receive quality services and gain greater insight into the role the Ministry of Finance plays in supporting Tanzania’s economic growth and the implementation of the National Development Vision 2050," he said.
Mr Liganga further noted that public exhibitions remain a key tool for promoting transparency, accountability and public participation in government programmes.
The Ministry of Finance has been using the Nane Nane exhibition to provide financial literacy education, promote prudent management of public resources and strengthen collaboration between government institutions and citizens.
As thousands of visitors continue to attend this year’s exhibition, the ministry says it will continue leveraging such platforms to expand public outreach, improve service delivery and deepen public understanding of financial and economic issues that influence the country's development agenda.
