Uyole Member of Parliament and Inter-Parliamentary Union (IPU) President Dr Tulia Ackson has extended a helping hand to a resident whose house was destroyed by fire, contributing TZS 1 million towards its rehabilitation.
Dr Ackson visited Ms Newman Charles Sanga at Masewe Street in Ilemi Ward, where her house was recently gutted by fire following an electrical fault.
The fire caused significant damage to the house, leaving Ms Sanga in need of support to restore the property and resume normal living conditions.
During the visit, Dr Ackson presented TZS 1 million to Ms Sanga to assist with repair and restoration works.
The contribution is expected to provide immediate relief to the affected family as it begins the process of rebuilding after the incident.
Dr Ackson also expressed appreciation to residents, ward leaders and the fire and rescue team for their swift response, which helped contain the fire and prevent it from causing more extensive damage.
She said the response demonstrated the importance of community cooperation and prompt action during emergencies.
The incident has also renewed attention to the need for households to regularly inspect electrical installations and address faults early to reduce the risk of fires and protect lives and property.
