Tanzania's women's national football team, Twiga Stars, have entered the final phase of preparations for the 2026 Women's Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON), with the squad set to travel to Morocco in the coming days for the continental showpiece.

The team is holding its final training camp in Karatu, Manyara Region, where players are undergoing tactical and physical drills as the technical bench fine-tunes its plans ahead of the tournament.

Tanzania Football Federation (TFF) Communications Officer Clifford Mario Ndimbo said the squad is in good shape and focused on the task ahead, with only travel logistics remaining before departure.

"We are completing the final phase of preparations in camp. Once the flight tickets and travel schedule are confirmed, we will officially announce the team's departure for Morocco," Ndimbo told The Respondent Online.

Twiga Stars face a challenging assignment in Group C, where they have been drawn alongside defending champions South Africa, Burkina Faso and Ivory Coast.

Tanzania will open its campaign against South Africa on July 27, before taking on Burkina Faso on July 31. The group stage concludes with a match against Ivory Coast on August 4.

The tournament presents another opportunity for Twiga Stars to showcase the progress of women's football in Tanzania and compete against some of Africa's top-ranked teams. A strong performance in the group stage would boost the team's chances of reaching the knockout rounds and mark another milestone in the country's growing presence on the continental stage.
