The Malinyi District Police Force has strengthened its partnership with the health sector after conducting a clean-up exercise at Malinyi District Hospital and donating cleaning equipment and essential supplies to patients.
The initiative, carried out on Wednesday, July 22, was aimed at improving the hospital environment while promoting cooperation between security and health institutions in serving the community.
Speaking after the exercise, Malinyi District Police Commander (OCD) Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Anastazis Anthony Bajagae said the activity was a gesture of appreciation to healthcare workers for their continued support in police operations.
“Today we cleaned the hospital surroundings and donated cleaning equipment as a gesture of appreciation and to strengthen the good working relationship between the Police Force and healthcare workers. We recognise the important role they play in treating injured people, supporting victims of violence, and conducting postmortem examinations, which are essential in the administration of justice,” SSP Bajagae said.
He said healthcare workers have consistently responded to police needs whenever their services are required, regardless of the time or distance, noting that their cooperation has contributed to efforts to address crime and support victims in the district.
During the visit, police officers also toured the maternity ward and presented essential items to mothers who had recently delivered, offering support and encouragement to families.
SSP Bajagae used the occasion to call on parents to promote good values among children, prioritise education, and protect them from violence as part of efforts to build a responsible and safer society.
“People should not ignore acts of violence, and they should not become perpetrators of violence within their own families. Safe and caring families are the foundation of a stronger society,” he said.
A beneficiary, Ms Sheila Salum Magombaka, who recently gave birth at the hospital, praised the Police Force for the gesture, saying the visit provided encouragement and comfort to patients.
“We did not expect to see police officers cleaning the hospital and bringing us essential supplies. This shows that the Police Force cares about the welfare of the community,” she said.
Malinyi District Medical Officer Dr Julius Nyasongo commended the initiative, describing it as a reflection of strong cooperation between public institutions in improving services for citizens.
He said the hospital would continue working with the Police Force by providing medical assistance to injured persons, supporting victims of violence, and conducting postmortem examinations when required.
“This partnership will continue to grow for the benefit of the people by improving healthcare services, strengthening security, and supporting development in Malinyi District and Tanzania,” Dr Nyasongo said.
