Minister for Home Affairs Patrobas Katambi has assured Tanzanians that the country remains peaceful and secure, calling on citizens to continue focusing on economic and development activities as the government safeguards national stability.
Katambi made the statement in Dodoma on July 17, 2026, during Prime Minister Dr Mwigulu Nchemba’s visit to inspect preparations for this year’s Heroes Day celebrations scheduled for July 25 at Mashujaa Grounds in Mtumba, Dodoma.
The minister said the government remains committed to strengthening security across the country, while thanking President Dr Samia Suluhu Hassan for providing strategic guidance and directives aimed at enhancing national security.
“Tanzania is safe. The security of our borders is progressing well, while our defence and security institutions continue to effectively protect the country against external threats,” Katambi said.
He said maintaining peace and security remains a key priority for the government, noting that a stable environment is essential for citizens to pursue their livelihoods, attract investment and support economic growth.
“Citizens of the United Republic of Tanzania should be assured that they are safe, and visitors coming into the country through proper procedures are also safe,” he said.
Katambi said the government will continue protecting the country’s peace and security, which he described as a foundation for national development and prosperity.
He added that safeguarding Tanzania’s stability is a responsibility inspired by the sacrifices made by national heroes who dedicated their lives to building and protecting the nation.
“We will continue protecting and defending our nation so that Tanzania remains peaceful, stable and able to pursue sustainable development for present and future generations,” Katambi said.
The assurance comes as preparations intensify for Heroes Day, an occasion that honours Tanzanians who made significant contributions to the country’s freedom, unity and progress.
