KMC head coach Imani Mwalupetelo has urged his players to treat the remaining fixtures of the Tanzania Mainland Premier League as an opportunity to prove their quality and secure their future in football, following a narrow 1-0 defeat to TRA United.
The loss has left KMC FC in a dangerous position near the bottom of the table, further reducing their chances of survival as the relegation battle intensifies.
Speaking after the match, Mwalupetelo acknowledged the difficult situation facing his side, admitting that their hopes of staying in the top flight have become slim.
However, he insisted that the team must continue fighting with determination until the end of the season.
He emphasized that, beyond the club’s survival battle, the remaining matches present a crucial platform for players to showcase their talent and attract potential suitors ahead of the next season.
“Looking at the current position, it is clear that the situation is difficult,” he said. “But we must keep fighting, and every player must use these matches to show what they are capable of.”
Despite the defeat, the coach commended his players for their discipline and effort throughout the game, noting that they followed tactical instructions for large spells of the match.
He, however, lamented costly individual mistakes that ultimately allowed their opponents to capitalize and secure all three points.
“We played well in many phases of the game, but small mistakes made the difference, and we were punished,” he added.
On the other hand, TRA United head coach Ettien Ndayiragije praised his team for handling the pressure and securing a vital win that strengthens their position in the league standings.
His side, TRA United, entered the match needing maximum points, and he credited the players for showing discipline, patience, and focus under pressure.
“We knew how important these three points were for us,” said Ndayiragije. “The players responded well and showed great commitment to achieve the result.”
He added that TRA United will continue to approach their remaining matches with seriousness as they aim to finish the season in a stronger position.
The victory boosts TRA United’s momentum in the closing stages of the campaign, while KMC remain deep in the relegation zone, facing an uphill task to secure their place in the top flight.
