CCM, UK discuss deepening development cooperation aligned to vision 2050

The Secretary General of the Chama Cha Mapinduzi (CCM), Asha-Rose Migiro, on Friday, June 5, 2026, held talks with the United Kingdom Ambassador to Tanzania, Marianne Young, at CCM Headquarters in Dodoma, focusing on strengthening development cooperation aligned with Tanzania’s long-term development priorities.

The discussions centred on enhancing bilateral cooperation in key social and economic development areas, with both sides aligning their engagement to the CCM Election Manifesto for 2025–2030, the Tanzania Vision 2050, and the Sustainable Development Goals (Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs)).

Both leaders noted that the partnership between Tanzania and the United Kingdom continues to play a significant role in supporting development efforts, particularly in strengthening human capital through education, skills development, innovation, and investment.

Special emphasis was placed on empowering youth and women as key drivers of inclusive growth. The two sides discussed opportunities to expand access to quality education, vocational training, entrepreneurship support, and innovation ecosystems that can help young people participate more effectively in the economy.

The meeting also underscored the importance of fostering a skilled workforce capable of responding to emerging economic opportunities, while ensuring that women are fully included in development processes at all levels.

CCM Secretary General Asha-Rose Migiro reaffirmed the party’s commitment to strengthening partnerships that contribute to sustainable development and improve the livelihoods of Tanzanians. 

She noted that collaboration with development partners such as the United Kingdom remains important in advancing national priorities and supporting long-term economic transformation.

Ambassador Marianne Young, for her part, reiterated the United Kingdom’s commitment to continuing cooperation with Tanzania in areas that promote inclusive development and shared prosperity.

The meeting concluded with both sides agreeing to sustain dialogue and deepen cooperation in priority sectors that contribute to inclusive growth, innovation, and the realization of Tanzania’s long-term development vision.
