The Tanzania Chess Association (TACA) has named two talented players to represent the country at the Rapid Chess Championship scheduled to take place in Maputo, Mozambique, from August 20 to 23, 2026.
The tournament will bring together top rapid chess players from across the region, with Tanzania securing two slots following the official allocation of participation places.
Speaking on the selection, TACA Information Officer Mussa Mangula said the association had appointed Parsa Nasser to compete in the Men’s Open category after emerging as the national champion during the Tanzania National Chess Championship.
Neema Adam was selected to represent the women’s category after finishing as the first runner-up in the national competition.
Her inclusion follows the unavailability of the current women’s champion, Anahi Rishit Shah, who will not participate in the event.
Mangula said the decision reflects TACA’s continued commitment to nurturing chess talent and exposing Tanzanian players to international competition.
“This selection demonstrates our determination to continue developing chess in Tanzania by giving players an opportunity to gain international exposure, improve their experience and enhance competitiveness,” he said.
He added that the remaining travel preparations and participation procedures would be communicated directly to the selected players ahead of the tournament.
TACA also congratulated Parsa and Neema for earning the opportunity to represent Tanzania, expressing confidence that the duo will proudly fly the national flag at the international championship in Mozambique.
