Tanzania Ireland envoys strengthen women diplomacy ties in Sweden

Tanzania’s Ambassador to Sweden, Swahiba Mndeme, on May 13, 2026 paid a courtesy call on Ireland’s Ambassador to Sweden, Barbara Jones, who also serves as Chair of the Network of Women Ambassadors in Sweden.

During the meeting, Ambassador Jones welcomed Ambassador Swahiba into the network as the two diplomats held discussions on the importance of networking, collaboration and mutual support among women diplomats serving in Sweden.

The talks also focused on strengthening women’s leadership in diplomacy and promoting greater cooperation through the Network of Women Ambassadors.

Ambassador Swahiba commended Ambassador Jones for her leadership and continued efforts in championing women’s empowerment and advancing women’s leadership within the diplomatic community.

The meeting further reflected the strong and longstanding relations between Tanzania and Ireland, with the two sides underlining the importance of continued cooperation in key sectors including health, education, trade and investment, as well as women empowerment.
