The AIDS Healthcare Foundation (AIDS Healthcare Foundation) has donated medical equipment worth more than TZS 20 million to Simiyu Region, aiming to strengthen the fight against HIV/AIDS and improve healthcare services in local health facilities.
The handover ceremony took place on May 13, 2026, at the Office of the Regional Commissioner in Nyaumata, Bariadi, where Simiyu Regional Commissioner Anamringi Macha received the equipment on behalf of the government.
The items were later handed over to Bariadi District Commissioner Simon Simalenga for distribution to Bariadi Town Council Hospital and Dutwa Dispensary.
The donation is expected to strengthen HIV prevention, testing, treatment, and care services while also improving the capacity of health workers to deliver quality healthcare.
Health facilities in the region are expected to benefit from improved availability of essential medical supplies, helping more citizens access timely and reliable services.
AHF has been working closely with the Government of Tanzania to support national HIV/AIDS response efforts through medical support, health education, and awareness campaigns aimed at reducing new infections.
These interventions continue to complement government initiatives to expand healthcare access, particularly in rural and hard-to-reach areas.
Speaking during the ceremony, Simiyu Regional Commissioner Anamringi Macha expressed appreciation to AHF for its continued support, saying the partnership has played an important role in strengthening healthcare delivery in the region. He noted that the donated equipment will improve service delivery and help save lives.
He also urged citizens, especially young people, to take preventive measures seriously and follow professional health advice to reduce new HIV infections.
Macha further emphasized that continued collaboration between the government and development partners remains key to improving public health services and achieving national health goals.
The donation underscores the importance of strong partnerships between government and development stakeholders in strengthening healthcare systems and advancing the fight against HIV/AIDS in regions such as Simiyu Region and Bariadi.
