Permanent Secretary in the Prime Minister’s Office responsible for Policy, Parliament, Coordination and Persons with Disabilities, Dr Jim Yonazi, has met the newly appointed Executive Director of the Tanzania Commission for AIDS (TACAIDS), Dr Adam Joseph Mrisho, who paid a courtesy call following his recent appointment.

Dr Mrisho was recently appointed by President Samia Suluhu Hassan to lead the commission responsible for coordinating the country’s response to HIV and AIDS.

The meeting took place on March 23, 2026, at the Prime Minister’s Office on Reli Street in Dodoma and was attended by Deputy Permanent Secretary Dr James Kilabuko and HIV/AIDS Coordinator Adela Mpina.

During the discussions, Dr Yonazi congratulated Dr Mrisho on his appointment and assured him of the Prime Minister’s Office’s full support as he begins his new role.

He emphasised the importance of strengthening cooperation among government institutions and stakeholders to enhance the implementation of national strategies aimed at preventing new HIV infections and improving support services for people living with HIV.

Dr Mrisho said he is committed to working closely with government institutions and partners to strengthen the country’s response to HIV and AIDS and ensure continued progress in addressing the disease.

The Tanzania Commission for AIDS (TACAIDS) is responsible for coordinating the national multi-sectoral response to HIV and AIDS, working with government agencies, development partners and civil society organisations across the country.
