Young Africans Sports Club has conducted a mid-season review of its men’s senior team and announced changes to the technical bench as the club prepares for the second round of the campaign.

In a statement issued on March 23, 2026, the club said its management held a meeting at the team’s headquarters in Jangwani, Dar es Salaam, to evaluate performance following the conclusion of the first round of the NBC Premier League.

The meeting reviewed a report from the technical bench led by head coach Pedro Soares Goncalves, which highlighted the team’s strong run during the first phase of the season.

According to the report, Yanga has remained unbeaten in 16 matches, recording 11 wins and five draws.

The club also leads the league in scoring with 32 goals while conceding only three goals, giving it the strongest defensive record in the competition.

Despite the impressive performance, the management noted several challenges that affected the team during the first round.

Among the issues highlighted was a congested match schedule that saw the team play seven matches within 21 days, including six fixtures in the NBC Premier League and one in the CRDB Federation Cup

The team also travelled more than 4,400 kilometres across the country during that period, a situation the club said contributed to fatigue among players.

The club also reported an injury crisis affecting several key players in the squad. Currently, eight players are sidelined due to injuries, including Khomein Aboubakar, Clement Mzize, Dickson Job, Ibrahim Bacca, Chadrack Boka, Edmund John, Prince Dube and Laurindo Maria Depu, with three of them expected to miss the rest of the season.

Management also noted concerns about the team’s recent tactical approach, saying there had been a shift in the style of play that does not fully align with the club’s traditional identity and the strengths of the current squad.

Following the evaluation, the club announced the appointment of Abdihamid Moalin as assistant coach to work alongside Goncalves.

Moalin previously served the club as technical director and assistant coach under former head coaches Sead Ramovic and Miloud Hamdi

During that period, the club won several major trophies including the 2024/25 NBC Premier League title, the 2025 CRDB Federation Cup and the Union Cup.

The club said Moalin’s return is expected to strengthen the technical bench as the team pushes for success in the second round of the season.

Yanga management reassured members and supporters that the team remains focused on its key targets for the 2025/26 campaign, including winning the NBC Premier League title and the CRDB Federation Cup
