TTCL launches high-speed ‘Faiba Supersonic’ internet service

Tanzania’s state-owned telecom operator, Tanzania Telecommunications Corporation, has launched a new high-speed fibre internet service aimed at expanding digital connectivity and supporting the country’s growing digital economy.

The service, branded “Faiba Supersonic Experience”, was unveiled on Monday as part of the company’s efforts to improve broadband access, strengthen communications infrastructure, and offer faster internet to households, offices and businesses.

Speaking during the launch, TTCL’s Director of Business Vedastus Mwita said the initiative marks another step in Tanzania’s digital transformation, as demand for reliable and affordable internet continues to rise.

“High-quality internet is no longer a luxury but a basic requirement for economic and social development,” Mwita said. “From business and education to healthcare and innovation, fast and reliable connectivity is essential.”

The new service, known locally as “Faiba Mlangoni Kwako”, is designed to deliver high-speed fibre internet directly to homes and offices, allowing users to support multiple digital activities, including online business operations, streaming, gaming, and remote work.

TTCL said the new packages offer internet speeds ranging from 60 Mbps to 250 Mbps, with some plans also including fixed-line call minutes and mobile data allowances.

The entry-level package, T-Fiber Busta, provides speeds of 60 Mbps for both downloads and uploads, while the top-tier T-Fiber Triple Hub Jumbo package offers speeds of up to 250 Mbps along with additional communication benefits.

Customers subscribing to the packages will also receive free mobile SIM cards from TTCL as part of promotional offers.

Mwita said the company has invested heavily in telecommunications infrastructure to ensure the reliability and expansion of broadband services across the country.

The move comes as Tanzania seeks to strengthen its digital economy by improving access to fast and affordable internet services for individuals, institutions, and businesses.

The firm says expanding broadband connectivity is critical for enabling innovations such as smart homes, smart offices, digital entrepreneurship, and the wider adoption of online services.

TTCL said the new fibre service will allow customers to stream high-definition and 4K video content without interruptions, download and upload large files more quickly, and participate in online gaming and other data-intensive digital activities.

The company added that further improvements to its digital services are expected as it continues to expand infrastructure and introduce new technologies to meet growing demand for connectivity.
