The Tanzania Medicines and Medical Devices Authority (TMDA) has launched a special award program to recognize journalists who have delivered outstanding reporting on medicines, medical devices, diagnostics, and tobacco control.
The initiative targets works published or broadcast between April 2025 and March 2026.
TMDA emphasized that the awards aim to honor the crucial role of journalists in educating the public on health issues and promoting responsible reporting that safeguards community well-being.
Eligible entries include news stories, feature articles, and multimedia content aired on television, radio, newspapers, and social media during the specified period.
Submitted works will undergo evaluation, and top performers will be selected for recognition.
Journalists wishing to participate are invited to submit their entries by April 16, 2026, either via email at commpedtmda@gmail.com or on a CD delivered to TMDA offices in Dodoma, Dar es Salaam, Mwanza, Arusha, Mbeya, Ruvuma, Tabora, Morogoro, and Geita.
TMDA encouraged journalists to take advantage of the awards as a platform to continue raising public health awareness and promoting safety across Tanzania.
