President of the United Republic of Tanzania, Dr. Samia Suluhu Hassan, today, March 11, 2026, officially received a newborn baby girl at her residence in Ikulu Chamwino, Dodoma.

The child, named Grace Samia Suluhu Hassan, was abandoned in Nzega Town, Tabora Region, and handed over to the President by Nzega District Commissioner, Naitapwaki Tukai.

Speaking during the handover, DC Tukai said the baby was found on January 17, 2026, near the Kasulu Guest House area in Nzega Town.

“After receiving the report, we collaborated with the Police to take the child to the hospital for medical examination and care, while efforts to trace her mother continue without success,” he explained.

President Samia welcomed the child into her family and pledged to provide her with proper upbringing, protection, and all essential services to ensure she grows up in a safe and loving environment.

“Those who abandon children do not fully understand the consequences of their actions. Rather than abandoning a child, it is better to hand them over to legal authorities or a child care facility. Every child is a treasure, and we cannot predict what the future holds for them,” President Samia said.
