NSSF’s Mzizima Towers set to boost business and tourism in Dar

The investment project of Mzizima Towers being implemented in Dar es Salaam by the National Social Security Fund (NSSF) has reached 91 percent completion, with the government confirming that the landmark development is expected to be completed by December 31, 2026.

The update was provided on March 16, 2026 by the Minister of State in the Prime Minister’s Office responsible for Labour, Employment and Persons with Disabilities, Deus Sangu, while presenting a progress report on the project to the Parliamentary Standing Committee on Social Welfare and Community Development.

Mr Sangu said the project involves the construction of two modern towers, one designed for commercial use and the other for residential purposes, with a combined construction area of 95,018.15 square metres.

The commercial tower will rise to 35 floors, while the residential tower will have 32 floors, forming one of the major real estate developments in Dar es Salaam.

According to the minister, the buildings are being designed in line with modern international architectural standards, enabling them to support the growing demand for business, residential and tourism services in the city.

The complex will also include a five-star hotel that will be operated by the international hospitality company Radisson Hotel Group.

The hotel will feature 156 guest rooms and 132 serviced hotel apartments, targeting both tourists and business travellers visiting the country’s commercial capital.

Mr Sangu noted that the project is being financed entirely by NSSF, as part of the fund’s broader strategy to invest in large-scale projects that generate sustainable returns for members while supporting national economic development.

He said such investments help increase the value of the fund’s assets while strengthening its ability to meet its obligations to members.

During a visit to the project site, the Chairperson of the Parliamentary Standing Committee on Social Welfare and Community Development, Hawa Mchafu Chakoma, commended the government for ensuring the continuation of the project.

She also expressed gratitude to Samia Suluhu Hassan for supporting the project’s implementation, noting that it will bring benefits to both the fund and the country.

“We have visited the site and seen the progress of the construction. The work being done here is impressive and shows strong leadership in the management of NSSF projects,” she said.

The Director General of NSSF, Masha Mshomba, thanked members of the committee for their visit and for taking time to review the progress made so far.

Members of the committee, including Kafiti Kafiti and Kangi Lugola, praised NSSF for undertaking the large investment project, saying it will deliver major economic benefits.

The Mzizima Towers project is expected to boost business activities and tourism in Dar es Salaam, while also creating employment opportunities.

More than 300 workers have already been employed during the construction phase, while over 250 additional jobs are expected to be created once the hotel and other commercial activities begin operating after completion.
