Minister of Energy, Hon. Deogratius Ndejembi, arrived in Morogoro yesterday to participate in the Clean Cooking Energy Conference, a key national forum aimed at promoting sustainable and safe energy solutions for households across Tanzania.

Upon arrival, he was warmly received by the Morogoro Regional Commissioner, Adam Malima.

The conference convened representatives from the Ministry of Energy, public institutions from both mainland Tanzania and Zanzibar, as well as major stakeholders including financial institutions, energy producers, distributors, and end-users of clean cooking energy.

The gathering provided a platform to discuss strategies for increasing the adoption of clean cooking technologies, which are central to improving public health, reducing environmental pollution, and advancing sustainable development goals.

Organized by the Ministry of Energy in collaboration with the Leadership Institute, the conference carried the theme: “Enhancing the Use of Clean Cooking Energy for Sustainable Development.”

The event highlighted government initiatives to expand access to modern energy solutions, attract private sector participation, and strengthen partnerships across the clean energy value chain.

Minister Ndejembi was accompanied by Mr. Nolasco Mlay, representative of the Principal Secretary for Electricity and Renewable Energy, who will also engage in discussions on renewable energy solutions and national strategies for clean cooking initiatives.

The conference is expected to offer actionable recommendations on policy frameworks, investment opportunities, and community-based interventions that will accelerate the shift from traditional cooking fuels to safe and sustainable alternatives.

With Tanzania’s growing population and urbanization, the promotion of clean cooking energy remains a national priority, aligning with broader efforts to ensure energy access, environmental protection, and improved quality of life for citizens.
