KIUT, TPA and Jeshi Stars delivered strong performances to register convincing victories during the Dar es Salaam Regional Volleyball League matches played yesterday at the KIUT grounds in Dar es Salaam.

In the men’s category, hosts KIUT secured a dominant 3–0 straight-sets win over Tanzania Air Force, showing clear superiority throughout the match. In another tightly contested encounter, Nyika edged Tanzania Prisons 3–2 in a five-set thriller.

Jeshi Stars also produced an impressive performance, defeating Kigamboni 3–0, while JKT cruised to a 3–0 victory over TPDC. Meanwhile, TPA proved too strong for Best Six, claiming a comfortable 3–0 win.

In the women’s category, TPA maintained their strong form by defeating Nyika 3–0, while Chui recorded a 3–1 victory against UDSM.

Speaking after the matches, the Technical Committee Chairperson of the Dar es Salaam Regional Volleyball Association (DAREVA), Joseph Mwaduwa, said the league is progressing smoothly with teams showing increasing levels of competitiveness.

He noted that the second round of the league is expected to be even more competitive as several foreign players who are yet to join their respective teams are expected to arrive soon.

Mwaduwa said the presence of the foreign players will strengthen squads and raise the overall quality of the competition as teams fight for places in the play-off stage.

The Secretary General of DAREVA, Clement Athanas, also expressed satisfaction with the organisation of the league, noting that strong cooperation between the association and the league board has helped ensure the competition runs efficiently.

He added that organisers are planning to introduce night matches after the Easter period, following the end of the Ramadan fasting season.

Athanas further called on sponsors and stakeholders to support volleyball development, saying increased sponsorship would help strengthen the league and enhance competition among teams.
