Residents of Kilosa District gathered for special prayers and a communal iftar to pray for the President of the United Republic of Tanzania, Samia Suluhu Hassan, in a gesture aimed at strengthening unity and solidarity during the holy month of Ramadan.

The event brought together Kilosa District Commissioner Shaka Hamdu Shaka, religious leaders from various denominations, representatives of political parties, officials from government and private institutions, civil society organisations, and residents of the district.

The gathering began with a special Duah prayer session dedicated to praying for President Samia, followed by a joint iftar where participants broke the fast together.

Speaking during the event, Shaka said the gathering was organised to promote unity and strengthen social bonds among residents while also praying for the country’s leadership.

He noted that the holy month of Ramadan offers an important opportunity for reflection, prayer and strengthening relationships among communities.

He said such gatherings help bring together people from different backgrounds, faiths and institutions, encouraging cooperation and mutual understanding in addressing community and national challenges.

The event was held at the official residence of the Kilosa District Commissioner, where participants prayed together and later shared the iftar meal in a spirit of unity and brotherhood.

Religious leaders who attended the gathering emphasised the importance of praying for national leaders, noting that such prayers seek divine guidance so that leaders may continue serving the nation with wisdom, justice and commitment.

They also called on citizens to maintain peace, unity and mutual respect, especially during the holy month of Ramadan, which encourages compassion, generosity and solidarity among communities.

Participants said the event reflected the strong spirit of cooperation that exists among Kilosa residents and expressed hope that similar initiatives would continue to strengthen unity and social cohesion in the district and across the country.
