Ambassador Mahmoud Thabit Kombo, Tanzania’s Minister of Foreign Affairs and East African Cooperation, was officially sworn in as a Member of the East African Legislative Assembly (EALA) today. The ceremony took place during a special session of the Fifth EALA, held virtually.

Minister Kombo took the oath as an ex-officio Member, in line with Rule 5(4) of the EALA Rules of Procedure, which requires that no member may participate in Assembly proceedings without pledging allegiance to the Treaty for the Establishment of the East African Community.

With his swearing-in, Minister Kombo now joins the regional assembly, representing Tanzania and participating in legislative and oversight activities that shape East Africa’s integration agenda.
