The Minister for Home Affairs, George Simbachawene, has arrived in Karagwe District, Kagera Region, to represent the Prime Minister of the United Republic of Tanzania, Dr Mwigulu Nchemba, at a special church service scheduled for Sunday, December 21, 2025.

The service will involve the blessing and ordination of pastors and deacons at Lukajange Cathedral of the Karagwe Diocese, under the Evangelical Lutheran Church in Tanzania (ELCT).

Upon his arrival, Minister Simbachawene was warmly received by Bishop Dr Benson Kalikawe Bagonza, the Bishop of the ELCT Karagwe Diocese.

Church leaders and local officials also welcomed the minister ahead of the major religious event, which is expected to draw a large number of worshippers from within and outside the region.

According to church officials, the service will see five deacons formally ordained into pastoral ministry, marking an important milestone in the life of the Karagwe Diocese and the wider Lutheran community.

The event underscores the close cooperation between the government and faith-based institutions in promoting moral values, social cohesion and community development across the country.
