The Minister for Industry and Trade, Judith Kapinga (MP), has said the Government recognises and highly values the significant contribution of women entrepreneurs to national economic growth, job creation, poverty reduction and the improvement of social welfare.
Kapinga made the remarks in Dar es Salaam during the launch of the 20th anniversary celebrations of the Tanzania Women Chamber of Commerce (TWCC), alongside the opening of a stakeholders’ workshop to validate the preliminary report of a study on digital financial inclusion for women and youth entrepreneurs.
She noted that women’s economic empowerment generates wide-ranging benefits for families, communities and the nation at large, stressing that the Government will continue to take deliberate measures to ensure women and youth actively participate in economic activities.
“The Government continues to improve the business environment, expand access to credit and inclusive financial services, promote entrepreneurship, innovation and the use of digital technology,” said Kapinga.
She further stated that the Government will continue to work closely with TWCC in advancing the women’s empowerment agenda, particularly in promoting digital financial inclusion that aligns with the demands of a modern, technology-driven economy.
Speaking on TWCC’s 20-year milestone, Kapinga said the celebrations provide an important opportunity to assess achievements made so far and to set a new strategic direction aimed at enabling women to expand their businesses into regional and international markets.
She emphasized the importance of focusing on digital and environmentally friendly businesses to enhance competitiveness and sustainability.
The Minister also called on all stakeholders, including financial institutions and the private sector, to strengthen collaboration with TWCC in empowering women and youth entrepreneurs as part of efforts to achieve inclusive and sustainable development.
Under the theme “20 Years of Empowering Women Economically,” Minister Kapinga officially launched the TWCC anniversary celebrations and opened the stakeholders’ workshop, reaffirming the Government’s commitment to advancing women’s economic empowerment through collective action.
