Tanzania has reaffirmed its global reputation as a peaceful and reliable tourism destination, assuring the international community that the country remains safe for visitors following isolated incidents reported during the recent elections.

Speaking at the 26th General Assembly of the United Nations World Tourism Organization (UN Tourism) in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, on November 9, 2025, Permanent Secretary in the Ministry of Natural Resources and Tourism, Dr. Hassan Abbasi, said the government had acted swiftly to maintain peace and stability key pillars of Tanzania’s thriving tourism industry.

“Tanzania is safe and stable. The government has restored calm, and all our tourist attractions remain open and secure,” Dr. Abbasi said.

“We welcome all our friends and partners from around the world to continue visiting and investing in our tourism sector.”he added

Dr. Abbasi’s statement comes at a time when Tanzania continues to enjoy growing international confidence, driven by its reputation as one of Africa’s top safari destinations and its consistent efforts to promote sustainable tourism.

He highlighted Tanzania’s recent achievements within the UN Tourism framework, including hosting the Africa Regional Gastronomy Tourism Forum in Arusha earlier this year and benefiting from environmental conservation initiatives in the Usambara Mountain ranges.

Tanzania also earned recognition at the global meeting after being approved as a member of the UN Tourism Credentials Committee, in addition to its existing seat on the Executive Council a leadership position shared by only 32 out of 160 member states.

The General Assembly, which continues in Riyadh, is discussing emerging trends in the industry, including the use of artificial intelligence to promote tourism, and will elect a new Parmanent Secretary.

Tanzania’s renewed assurance underscores its growing leadership role in global tourism governance. With world-class attractions such as the Serengeti, Mount Kilimanjaro, Ngorongoro Crater, and Zanzibar, the country continues to position itself as a trusted destination for both adventure and investment where visitors can explore in peace and confidence.
