Simba SC assistant coach Selemani Matola has reiterated the team’s determination to secure three points when they take on Stade Malien in their second group stage match of the CAF Champions League on November 30 in Mali.
The Tanzanian giants are looking to bounce back after a disappointing start to the group stage, following a 1–0 defeat to Petro Atletico de Luanda in their opening game at Benjamin Mkapa Stadium in Dar es Salaam.
The team has already arrived in Mali to finalize preparations ahead of the clash with the hosts. The technical bench continues to emphasize the importance of the match and the need for full focus from the players.
Speaking from Mali, Matola said the team is thankful that the weather conditions are similar to those in Dar es Salaam, making it easier to continue their training program without disruption.
“We have prepared thoroughly and focused on correcting our challenge of creating chances but failing to convert them. Now, our goal is clear: every opportunity we get must turn into a goal,” Matola said.
He added that the coaching staff has been motivating the players to give their best on the field and fight for a positive result.
“This is still the group stage, and we have a chance to recover. We have told the players that tomorrow’s match is crucial—there will be no excuses. We are going to fight hard to secure three points,” he emphasized.
Matola concluded by acknowledging the frustration coaches feel when their team creates chances but fails to score, noting that the squad has worked on improvements to ensure opportunities are successfully converted into goals.
