During an inspection tour of road projects in Dodoma, Eng. Kasekenya said he was pleased with the progress, noting that the bridge will significantly improve connectivity between Chilonwa and Nzali villages.
He underscored the government’s substantial investment in infrastructure and called on TANROADS to intensify supervision to ensure the project delivers full value for money.
Dodoma Regional TANROADS Manager, Eng. Zuhura Amani, said the bridge will end persistent communication challenges along the 70-kilometre Chamwino–Dabalo–Itiso–Chinene corridor.
She added that improved access will spur agricultural production and trade, linking the Morogoro and Arusha highways more efficiently.
More than TZS 14.5 billion has been invested in the project, a development expected to stimulate economic activity across Chamwino District.
He instructed contractors—CCECC for the 52.3-kilometre Nala–Veyula–Ihumwa section and Avic for the 60-kilometre Nala–Matumbulu–Mtumba section—to speed up construction to reduce traffic congestion and keep the project on schedule.
He also emphasized the need to install road signs, lighting, and tree landscaping to enhance the safety and appearance of the road.
Once completed, the Dodoma Outer Ring Road is expected to ease congestion and accelerate economic growth in the capital.
