Tanzanian boxer Zulfa Macho Yusuf has stormed into the bantamweight (54kg) final of the Africa Zone Three Boxing Championship after a stunning 5-0 victory over Bisambu Deborah of the Democratic Republic of Congo (DR Congo) in the semifinals held today in Nairobi.
The victory served as sweet revenge for Zulfa, who lost narrowly to the same opponent 3-2 at last year’s African Championships in Kinshasa, DR Congo.
In the final set for Friday, Zulfa will face Kenya’s Amina Martha, the first Kenyan female boxer to win a medal at the 2024 African Games in Accra, Ghana.
Tanzania has already secured two finalists in the championship, with Ezra Paul becoming the first Tanzanian boxer to reach the final. Meanwhile, other Tanzanian fighters continue their quest for gold as the tournament progresses.
