The Trade Union Congress of Tanzania (TUCTA) has called on all workers nationwide to vote in large numbers on October 29, emphasizing the importance of electing leaders who will safeguard their rights and welfare for the next five years.

Speaking to journalists in Arusha on Thursday, TUCTA President Comrade Tumaini Peter Nyamhokya urged workers to actively participate in the upcoming general elections, saying their involvement is crucial for ensuring leaders remain accountable to workers’ interests.

“I refer back to our May Day 2025 slogan: ‘Let the 2025 General Election bring us leaders who care for workers’ rights and interests. Let all of us participate.’ Now it is time to turn this into action to protect our interests over the next five years. Let’s all take part,” Nyamhokya said.

During the briefing, Nyamhokya also expressed gratitude to President Samia Suluhu Hassan for her dedication to addressing workers’ challenges and for initiatives that have positively impacted workers under her leadership.

TUCTA Parmanent Secretary Comrade Hery Mkunda, along with members of affiliated unions from Arusha and neighboring regions, joined the president at the press briefing.
