Tanzania’s Faru Weusi make history with record medal haul at African boxing championships

By Our Reporter

Tanzania’s national boxing team, Faru Weusi, has made history by securing more than 10 medals at the African regional championships for the first time.

The achievement comes as several Tanzanian boxers advance to the semifinals of the third regional tournament currently underway in Nairobi, Kenya.

The team has also successfully qualified five of its boxers for the finals, where victory will guarantee gold medals.

This remarkable performance has placed Tanzania among the top four nations at the championships, highlighting the country’s growing prominence in African boxing.

The finals are scheduled for October 24 at the Kasarani Indoor Arena in Nairobi, and fans are eagerly anticipating the outcome.

This historic milestone is a testament to the dedication and hard work of Faru Weusi, who have brought pride to Tanzania on the continental stage.

Looking ahead, the team is preparing to compete in an international tournament in Dubai, United Arab Emirates, this December.

While the government, through the National Sports Council, has provided support for travel and allowances, additional incentives could further motivate the athletes as they aim for greater success in future competitions.

Faru Weusi’s achievement underscores the potential of Tanzanian boxing and the importance of continued support from both the government and stakeholders.
