Singida Black Stars remain confident of advancing in the CAF Confederation Cup after securing a 1–1 draw against Burundi’s Flambeau du Centre in the first leg of the preliminary round.

Hussein Masanza, the club’s Information Officer, said the result has kept their hopes alive as they prepare for the decisive second leg, scheduled for Saturday, October 25, at the Azam Complex in Dar es Salaam.

Masanza emphasized that the players and technical team, led by head coach Miguel Gamondi, fully understand the importance of the upcoming match and are determined to deliver a strong performance for Tanzania.

“The technical bench, players, and management of Singida Black Stars are committed to winning this match and securing a place in the group stage,” Masanza said. “Our mission is to ensure Tanzanian teams continue to shine in all CAF competitions.”

He added that a victory for Singida Black Stars would be a source of national pride, alongside fellow Tanzanian clubs Simba, Yanga, and Azam, who are also competing in continental tournaments.

The remarks come as Yanga and Simba represent Tanzania in the CAF Champions League, while Azam FC and Singida Black Stars compete in the CAF Confederation Cup.

Coach Miguel Gamondi has called on his players to focus fully on the return leg, leaving behind any errors or distractions from the Burundi match, and to use the home advantage to secure a decisive result.

“The first leg gave us motivation and morale for the return match,” Gamondi said. “We will learn from our mistakes and give our best performance to advance to the group stage.”

With strong fan support expected at the Azam Complex, Singida Black Stars are counting on home advantage and determination to carry them to the next stage of the CAF Confederation Cup.
