Simba SC shortlisted for CAF Club of the year, Kapombe in race for player Award

Simba Sports Club has been confirmed among the top 10 African clubs competing for the 2024/2025 CAF Club of the Year Award.

The Confederation of African Football (CAF) announced that this year’s awards ceremony is scheduled for December, celebrating the continent’s most outstanding football achievements.

Simba secured its nomination following a remarkable season in which the Tanzanian giants reached the CAF Confederation Cup final, narrowly losing 2–1 to Morocco’s RS Berkane.

Other clubs shortlisted for the prestigious continental honour include CR Belouizdad, CS Constantine, ASEC Mimosas, Pyramids FC, RS Berkane, Mamelodi Sundowns, Orlando Pirates, Stellenbosch FC, and Al Hilal.


In addition to the club nomination, Simba captain Shomari Kapombe has been named among the contenders for the CAF Player of the Year (Based in Africa) award. Kapombe’s leadership and consistent performances throughout the season have earned him recognition as one of Africa’s top players.

The nominations underscore Simba’s growing stature in African football, highlighting the club’s achievements and the talent of its players on the continental stage.
