A delegation of 18 veterans and leaders from the Tanzania Veterans Association (UMSOTA) is set to depart tomorrow evening for Kenya to participate in the Elderly Games, scheduled to take place from September 29 to October 1 this year.

Speaking to The Respondent Online, UMSOTA Chairman Faza Lusozi said preparations are complete and the team has already received the national flag representing Tanzania in Dar es Salaam today.

“Our squad is ready for the challenge. Everyone is in good health, and we continue to pray for safe travel and good health throughout the competition,” Lusozi stated.

He added that the team is currently in final preparations ahead of the games, including a friendly match tomorrow.

“The friendly will allow the coach to assess our weaknesses and make necessary adjustments before our departure,” Lusozi explained.

Lusozi emphasized that the team’s main goal is to win the trophy and represent Tanzania with pride, showcasing the skills of former players.

He acknowledged that competition will be tough, as teams from other countries are equally prepared, but stressed that the squad is ready to implement the coach’s guidance to achieve their championship ambitions.

Countries participating in the games include Tanzania, Uganda, Burundi, South Sudan, and host nation Kenya.

The UMSOTA squad features star players including Paul Lusozi, Idd Pazi, Idd Mohamed, Thomas Adrian, Mohamed Husein, Rashid Hilal, Boniface Oscar, Sunday Juma, Makumbi Juma, Edgar Samson, Athanas Maiko, Bure Mtaigwa, Frank Kasaga, George Masau, and Kaingilila Mausi.
