The Tanzania National Parks (TANAPA) Conservation Commissioner, CPA Musa Nassoro Kuji, has called on all staff of the authority to come together and form a single savings and credit cooperative, to be known as TANAPA SACCOS Ltd.
Commissioner Kuji, who also serves as patron of HIFADHI SACCOS Ltd, made the remarks on Wednesday during the 2025 Annual General Meeting of HIFADHI SACCOS held in Tanga.
He said a special mobilization team had already toured TANAPA stations across the country to sensitize employees about the benefits of establishing one SACCOs.
“During my visits to different conservation areas, I encouraged staff to embrace this initiative. In every station, workers assured me they support the idea and are ready to join when the time comes,” he said.
The commissioner explained that a unified SACCOs would boost the capital base, strengthen credibility, and build trust with the government and financial institutions.
“Where there is unity, there is strength, and through this strength, members will enjoy broader financial opportunities,” he added.
He also urged the leadership of HIFADHI SACCOS to continue recruiting members who will eventually form TANAPA SACCOS, while introducing new products and investing in technology to digitalize services.
For his part, HIFADHI SACCOS chairman, Philip Mwainyekule, told members that preparations for the merger were well on track. He said a secretariat formed to oversee the process had visited all conservation areas to provide cooperative education and register founding members.
“So far, 665 employees have already signed up to join TANAPA SACCOS,” he said.
Workplace savings and credit cooperatives are increasingly seen as a lifeline for employees, offering affordable access to financial resources to meet both personal and professional needs.
