The Mining Commission has encouraged miners, traders, and the general public to take advantage of its modern mineral laboratory in Dar es Salaam, which provides reliable and internationally recognized services at affordable costs.

Speaking in an interview, the Commission’s Laboratory Services Manager, Engineer Mwarabu Mvunilwa, said the facility, located at the TIRDO Complex in Msasani, is open to all stakeholders, including small-scale miners, businesspeople, investors, and institutions seeking trusted analysis and technical advice.

He explained that the government-owned laboratory is fitted with advanced equipment such as X-Ray Fluorescence (XRF) machines and fire assay furnaces, which guarantee quick and accurate results.

“Our services meet international ISO 17025 standards. This means results from our laboratory are accepted both in Tanzania and abroad, making mineral trade more transparent and trustworthy,” he said.

The laboratory offers a wide range of services, including gold and silver testing through fire assay, mineral analysis using XRF, acid digestion and AAS tests for base metals, mineral identification, and sample preparation.

It also provides moisture and ignition loss tests, which are important for understanding the true value of minerals.

Eng. Mvunilwa assured the public that the laboratory is managed by highly trained experts in geochemistry, mineralogy, and metallurgy, who are committed to producing dependable results that help stakeholders make informed economic and investment decisions.

“These services have increased confidence in mineral transactions, added value to resources, and improved government revenue. More importantly, they protect miners and traders by ensuring fair trade through accurate information,” he added.

He stressed that the services are not only recognized within Tanzania but also internationally, attracting clients from different countries and raising the country’s profile in the global mineral trade.
